Addressing the need for systematic changes in Slovakia to ensure sustainable improvement in population health outcomes, CIVITTA prepared and organized the first major healthcare-focused hackathon. A hackathon is a scientific and professional event with the purpose of addressing current challenges by either validating existing solutions and procedures or by innovating new and effective approaches.
Together with partners from both private and public sectors, CIVITTA identified the most pressing healthcare challenges that affect the lives of patients and the work of healthcare professionals and organized a 24-hour hackathon. Data scientists, IT specialists, innovators, students, and healthcare experts collaborated in multidisciplinary teams to develop innovative solutions. Participants got exclusive access to data provided by the Ministry of Health. Teams generated and presented digital solutions for three challenges with mentoring support from health, tech, and business experts.
